We're the UK's biggest furniture outlet. We receive and handle thousands of models straight from retailers every year. There is nobody more knowledgeable about today's brand name furniture than us. Welcome back to Joseph James Reviews. Today we're looking at the Genius from Furniture Village.

About the Genius (0:09)
The Genius is a relatively new release from Furniture Village. Though it hasn't been around for that long, it's starting to get quite popular.

The touchscreen (0:17)
The Genius is high-tech. As you can see, more and more these days we're seeing sofas coming with these iPad-like displays instead of the old school buttons. This makes control of the Genius really simple and straightforward, as you can actually see what you're doing and what you're controlling. Many customers love to use the touchscreen as it's an exciting piece of tech to have on your sofa.

Design and look (0:42)
Another positive feature is that it has all the tech and gizmos, but when compared to other collections like the Cinemax from Furniture Village, the Genius still maintains a modern look. It's got quite a modern, sleek design and is quite low backed. It doesn't have that high, chunky look that most traditional power recliners have, which adds to its popularity.

Fabrics (1:08)
The Genius is available in a variety of fabrics. Velvet, like this one here, is probably the most popular material though, and I'm happy to be sat in it.

Price (1:16)
The price is quite pricey. You are definitely paying for all the tech and the looks here. It's definitely a considered purchase, and a Genius is something you might go for if you're looking to have something for at least 5 years or thereabouts. The high price point is something to be conscious of. However, you can have this model at Furniture Village for £2,795, or this exact one from Joseph James for a stellar £1,690.

Delivery and access (1:36)
The Genius splits up into small pieces, which is a good thing about any recliner. All the backs come off, and if it's a model like this with the centre console, that splits off too. Because of all of this, it's an easy delivery. We have never failed to deliver a Genius.

Verdict (1:45)
With all this considered, the Genius gets a Joseph James rating of 8.2. Great tech, lots of comfort features and modes, and a nice sleek design. The thing that does put us off ever so slightly is that high price point.
