Today we are reviewing the Grigio range from Furniture Village. It's a dining furniture range that comes in many sizes.
Table sizes and the extending mechanism (0:09)
The Grigio table comes in a few different sizes, a small and a large, and it also comes extending or fixed. This is a large extendable table. It extends quite simply from the middle. It's just a push out motion, very smooth, and the middle should pop up. To close it, you give it a bit more force to the side and slide it back in.
The chairs (0:25)
You can choose whether you want four, six or even eight dining chairs with this set. The chairs are all quite similar. It's basically a grey fabric with a somewhat suede feel to the material, a foam filled base cushion, and these metal finished legs. It's quite stylish in my opinion, very modern looking.
The table top (0:41)
The table itself is a ceramic marble effect. It's supposedly heat and chip resistant, but I wouldn't guarantee that. If you bash any marble, ceramic or hard material table it's going to scratch, it's going to chip, despite them saying it's chip resistant. The good thing is that because it's got the marble effect, if you do scratch it, it kind of blends in with the table. We've actually got a scratch on this one we've got in the store, and it blends in quite nicely. You can't really notice it because of all the marble patterns on the table. So in that sense it can be covered up, but it doesn't stop chips.
Will it fit through the door? (1:12)
The great thing about almost any dining set is it fits through virtually every door. Basically all bases for the table come separately to the top. It's a few screws or bolts, depending on what kind of dining set you've got. You take the top of the table off and you can put the base through separately. It's so nice and thin once you take the top off that there's no door it wouldn't get through.
Price (1:36)
The Grigio is fairly reasonably priced. It's a Furniture Village set, so it sits in the middle of the general furniture market. It's not cheap, because it's pretty good quality, and it's not crazy expensive, because it's not a fancy designer piece. Depending on the size of the set you get, it ranges from about £1,000 to £2,000 for your whole dining set. I think it's pretty reasonably priced for the quality you're getting and the look, a very modern set. As an outlet we're about 30 to 40% cheaper, but obviously we've only got what we have on display. I think Furniture Village priced it pretty reasonably.
Verdict (2:06)
Overall rating, as dining sets go, I'd give it a solid 7.5. It doesn't blow me away with style, elegance and dynamic shapes, but it's a nice modern set, a nice starter set for anyone with their first home, and reasonably priced. So 7.5.
