What does comfort grading mean?

In short: comfort grading is a scale that sofa brands use to describe how soft or firm a seat feels, from a soft, sink-in feel through to a firmer, more supportive one. It is about personal preference, not quality.
What the grades describe
Different manufacturers use their own comfort scales, but they all describe much the same thing, the feel of the seat:
- Softer grades give a plush, relaxed, sink-in feel, ideal for lounging.
- Medium grades offer a balance of comfort and support.
- Firmer grades feel more structured and supportive, and can make getting up a little easier.
None is better than another. It simply comes down to how you like a seat to feel.
Which is right for you?
Think about how you will use the piece and who will be sitting on it. If you love to curl up and relax, a softer feel may suit you best. If you prefer firmer support, or want a seat that is easy to get in and out of, a firmer grade could be the better choice.
