Hey everybody, welcome back to Joseph James reviews. Today we're looking at the Kingsbury, sold under Furniture Village. Key features: high quality, supportive, and English.
The G Plan name (0:19)
G Plan is an English, trusted, well-known, high-quality brand, right up there with the likes of Parker Knoll. With the Kingsbury made by G Plan, quality is the name of the game. It's something you buy with the expectation that it's going to last decades. Because of this, it's great value for your money, though that initial price point is definitely on the high side. You may be able to find similar products made in China or by lesser known manufacturers, but by paying for the G Plan name, you get that known and trusted quality.
Support and comfort (0:48)
The Kingsbury is very high backed, which makes it great for back and neck support. It also comes with shallow seats that make getting out of the seat easier. These features make the Kingsbury popular with older clientele in particular.
Will it fit through the door? (1:01)
Something to note about the Kingsbury is that it has a big frame. This can make it tricky to get through doors. With the recliner version of the Kingsbury, you can pop the backs off, which definitely helps it get through tricky doors and hallways. With the static version this is not possible, which can make moving and delivery tricky. We've even had to saw them in half before just to fit it in.
Arms and seating (1:23)
The Kingsbury comes with very padded arms, which makes it nice and soft. If you want to go for a lie down and have a nap, you can lie across the whole thing if you want to. A lot of people like that it's got three individual seats. Many three-seaters nowadays come with two large seats, so the three-seat design sets the Kingsbury apart from those, and it makes a popular pick because of it.
Weight and construction (1:44)
Along with its big frame, the Kingsbury is quite a heavy piece. It's a testament to its quality, all solid hardwood construction. It does make it hard to move around, however.

Now, the price. It is a bit pricey because it's a G Plan. If you aren't looking for something that will last decades, this is probably not the piece for you, as you are definitely paying for that decades' worth of use. This Kingsbury retails at Furniture Village for £3,173, and at Joseph James you can get it for £2,190.
