Are my statutory rights affected?
‹ Back to After-Sales & Warranty help
In short: no. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply to everything we sell, whatever the price you pay, and nothing in our warranty or terms can take them away.
What your statutory rights are
Whenever you buy from Joseph James Furniture Outlet, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says the goods we supply must be:
- As described, matching the description, photos and any details given at the time of sale.
- Fit for purpose, suitable for what furniture of that kind is normally used for, and for any specific purpose you told us about before buying.
- Of satisfactory quality, free from defects, safe and durable, taking into account the price and description.
If an item does not meet these standards, you are entitled to a remedy such as a repair, a replacement or a refund.
They apply whatever the price
Your statutory rights are exactly the same whether you buy at full price or pick up a discounted, clearance or end-of-line piece. Our free 12-month warranty, and the optional extended warranty, are extra protection on top of your statutory rights, never a replacement for them. So even where an item is sold at a reduced price, you are still fully protected if it turns out to be faulty or not as described.
The one thing to be aware of
The only exception is a fault that we specifically drew to your attention before you bought. As an outlet, a small number of our items have a minor fault, and where that is the case we describe it clearly in the product description and show photos on the product page, with the price reflecting it.
Good to know
As a general guide, you have a short-term right to reject faulty goods for a full refund within 30 days of delivery. After that, we will normally look to repair or replace a verified fault first. See my item has a fault, what will you do?
